I’ve got plant lust!

Back when I was just a garden blog reader, not yet an actual blogger, one of the few blogs I read daily was nest maker. Not only was this nest maker person a fellow Portlander, but (from what I could gather) she lived fairly close to me here in NE Portland, she had great garden style and plant taste, AND (this is the biggy), she blogged about agaves!

As fate would have it I finally met Megan, the creative force behind nest maker at a Rare Plant Research open house, in fact not only did I meet Megan but I also met her mom, Patricia. Shortly after that, I managed to obtain an invitation to see both of their gardens and the plant talk flowed. On the blog Megan had mentioned her idea for an online plant resource, code name: plant lust. But getting to hear all about it in person, and seeing her and Patricia’s excitement for it, was contagious; I wanted to be a part of this!

Guess what…sometimes you get what you wish for, Megan asked me to be a part of team plant lust (how lucky am I?)! We’ve been working behind the scenes to launch the website, and it’s almost time. With Megan’s development vision, passion and expertise, combined with Patricia’s business development, research and catalogue experience, and my marketing and communications background, we plan to create the go-to online plant resource. Megan’s vision is huge, we’ve got our work cutout out for us, but that’s the exciting part. The online community of gardeners is endlessly curious, knowledgeable, and generous. I am very excited about the opportunity to build upon this community; we want plant lust to exceed your wildest expectations!

What exactly is plant lust? Seriously simple search for plants and places to find them. Very soon you’ll be able to visit plantlust.com and see for yourself. The plant database is still in its infant stages, but will be growing fast (that’s part of my job). In the meantime please take a moment and click over to Megan’s plant lust announcement today on nest maker to learn more about the vision behind plant lust. It’s going to be amazing!

  6. Congrats on the new site. It sounds great, and I love the title. Looking forward to seeing it up and running. I hope you'll include info on heat tolerance as well as cold tolerance (or heat or cold *requirement*). That sort of thing can vary greatly across any given zone, but especially in my zone 8.

  12. Just came from poking around Plant Lust. I love the way it looks, from logo to layout, and it seems easy to navigate. You and Megan make a great team, and it sounds like Patricia is the perfect complement. Kudos to the three of you!
