Housekeeping

If you open my blog to read this post no doubt you'll notice things look a little different. I like change (on my own terms) and the New Year seemed like a good time to spruce things up (so what if I'm almost 2 weeks late...). Hopefully you won't find the new look too shocking. There might be a few more tweaks (bye-bye pug avatar?) in the coming days but I'll settle in eventually.

One of the things that spurred me to update the header was how pixelated the old one looked in mobile view on my iPad. Unfortunately the new one doesn't seem to be much better, ugh! Speaking of mobile view does anyone know how to change your Google Reader on iPad so Blogger blogs open in web version not mobile? I don't like looking at those tiny pictures that show up in mobile! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As always, thank you for reading. I enjoy this partnership very much.

  1. Danger garden looks even more dangerous! I've been meaning to move to blogger or wordpress or something! I'll wait till we get a new computer , mine is too slow!

    1. Yes waiting until you have a better computer will definitely make the move more enjoyable. But that said I hope you move soon! I'd love to see more of your garden/thoughts than your current platform allows for. Plus it still won't let me comment sometimes!

  2. Love the new look! We can all use an update from time to time. I'm working on a few tweaks for mine too.

    1. Thanks Shirley. I never look at a blog and think "why don't they update things!" but certainly notice when they do. We've got to move the furniture around once and while to shake things up!

  3. Oh Danger, look at you struttin' your stuff like Kirstie Alley after the Jenny Craig! Your new look is spectacular (wouldn't expect anything less from you.) No more pug avatar and no more Lyla in your header? How would we know whose garden it really is that you're allowed to tend?

    1. Hahaha...thank you. After careful consideration I think the pug avatar will stay. At least for now. I do wonder if people get it, you know the goggles for eye protection. And without Lila in the header it's kind of a random out of the blue thing but then again it's unique and known.

  4. I'm no help with the iPad, I'm afraid, but I love the new pictures!

  5. You can't automatically force the iPad to open sites in web version. But you can buy an app for that -- iCab Mobile is $1.99 and lets you select "Safari Mac" as your default browser --- it still thinks it is a Safari browser but it is the desktop, not mobile browser version.

Another is Atomic Web browser for $.99. It lets you pick almost any default browser, and one choice is "Desktop Safari" --- again making your iPad think you are on a mac not a mobile device.

    Hope that helps!

  6. Hey danger! I love the new changes but have the same problem with my Ipad... I did find that switching back to the regular browser at the bottom of the page and then bookmarking that version seemed to mean that if I clicked the bookmark it would open in the regular format. But mine still switch back to the mobile version after clicking a post. So if you figure that out let me know. Oh, and did I say that I LOVE your new changes (though I shall miss the pug).

    1. Thanks Louis, and the pug (at least the avatar version) may have earned a reprieve. BTW check out the suggestion Gaz gives below...it works swimmingly!

    1. Look at you being a genius! So much easier to do that than have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on web version. Thank you!

  8. I have the same problem. You can choose "Dynamic Views" from your mobile templates and it will remove your masthead on mobile devices and make everything look a lot cleaner. But then you lose your masthead, which looks great!

    1. Thanks Heather, I'll look into that! (I forget you're on blogger too)

  9. You can disable mobile view in template settings when you're signed in to your blog. That should also fix the problem with the image being pixelated.

    1. Aha...nice. I hate the idea of taking away the mobile view for those that like it, but I think I hate a pixelated header even more.

  10. I got R an ipad for Christmas because he has never used a computer AT ALL and everyone said it was so intuitive he would have no problem. Hah! We have both been struggling to get the simplest things, like Facebook and email up and running. It is comforting to know that savvy folks have tech problems too.
Oh, and I love your new look.

  19. Feeling a bit of your pain today... we are in the middle of a 5 day nighttime freeze... plants are dying left and right.

    Anguish.

I brought most of the tender pots in ... but I am finding I was off on my estimate of hardiest for way too many more...

The desert. Always a challenge. Always.
